Like a Selknam

During my stay in Rotterdam one day I was walking through a Park where I found cement under the grass. That made me think that human beings are losing their connection with “real nature”, and I thought about the last people that may have had this connection: the indigenous population. I thus decided to paint my body like a “Selknam” (people that lived in the south of Chile: they used to paint their bodies to celebrate “the initiation ceremony”). In the video, you can see me as a normal woman arriving to the park with a bike, then I undress and expose my painted body. I play my Ghettoblaster and I listen jungle sounds, fake nature sounds in an artificial landscape of Rotterdam.
